Origin of the rough material Lehesten, Thuringia.
The historic schist mine in Lehesten in the Thuringian Forest is one of the oldest and largest opencast mines for roofing material in Europe. Schist has been mined, split and processed into slates, roof and wall coverings in Lehesten since the 13th century.
In modern crystal healing, pyrite in schist is considered the stone of openness. It helps to not take oneself too seriously and to laugh at oneself from time to time. Negative thoughts can be let go more easily.
Pyrite in schist is also referred to as Apache gold, based on where it was found in the USA. The white bands and areas are mostly quartz, with occasional calcite.
